Living Aparthotel

It was very clean and quiet, with a sweet little balcony where I could sit with a coffee. A local shop was just a short walk away, and there were lots of buses nearby for getting around.

The balcony was roomy and the view was nice, and the apartment itself was charming, tastefully decorated, and exceptionally clean. What was missing was the hospitality we've found at other places. There were no small comforts like slippers, salt and pepper, a shower cap, coffee or tea, or bottled water, and at the fairly high price those extras would have helped. The owners could take a cue from places where guests are welcomed warmly. It felt like a cold place, much like the capital itself.

We stayed three days and had noise all night. They gave us just one roll of tissue for the whole stay and no tea or coffee supplies. The duvet was very thin, the mattress uncomfortable, and there was a bad smell in the room.

The location was handy, about a ten-minute walk from the old town, or you could take a taxi from the hotel for roughly 3 euros. We had a spacious standard room, a large comfortable bed, and an excellent shower. The sink didn't drain, but since we were only there one night, we didn't ask anyone to clear it. The room looked a bit shabby, with a cracked ceiling and peeling paint. Still, it was good value for the money.
