“The NOT so Great Gatsby” We stayed for a few days, and after the first day the owner called to say he’d heard us through the cameras and that we’d made “too much noise.” That was scary, and we searched the whole house for cameras. He said we could leave the apartment right away or pay a noise pollution fine. There are all sorts of rules, so read them carefully when booking, as there are extra charges for everything and the fines are high. We apologized on the phone, but he still wanted to make us leave or pay. We ended up paying the fine so we could stay. He was very angry and couldn’t handle things normally. The location and apartment itself were the only good parts, so I’m giving one star for those. Not recommended. It felt like a Big Brother apartment.

Our booking at HOLT - The Great Gatsby, Bucharest was cancelled on 5th March, only 48 hours before our planned arrival on 7th March for my stag do. They said a water pipe had burst. Even if that was true, they offered no help or alternative accommodation, despite the company owning several properties in Bucharest. There was no apology or sign of concern, just a cancellation and a “not our problem” attitude. We were left scrambling for a last-minute place so the trip wouldn’t be ruined. The way they handled it showed no responsibility or customer service. I’d strongly recommend booking elsewhere if you need reliability. Would give zero stars if I could.

The staff replied almost straight away when I needed information, and they were great throughout. The apartment was very clean and beautifully designed, with a classy feel. Right in the city center near the Old Town, it’s close to restaurants, pubs, clubs, bus stops, and subway lines. My best stay while traveling around. I loved it.

The apartment looked even better in person, and the design and attention to detail were stunning. HOLT staff communicated really well and helped me plan my trip with their recommendations. The Great Gatsby is easily the best place I’ve stayed, and a great option for visiting Bucharest. I highly recommend it.

I’d happily stay here again. The apartment is in a great spot and has good furniture and all the equipment you need. The owner could do a better job cleaning the whole place, especially the beds and linens.
