Tranzzit Hotel

The rooms are new and clean, with nice interiors, though simple, and the price is good. Reception is the problem: they don’t check or answer emails, and arriving after hours sounds like a gamble. They should automatically send an entry code for late bookings or arrivals. There’s no visible phone number either, so the owner feels a bit mysterious.

It’s about a 10-13 minute walk to North Station, and the room was clean with nice staff. There’s no lift, and staff weren’t available after 8 p.m. A shower curtain in the bathroom would help. It would also be nice to have a kettle in the common area for hot water, especially in winter.

Mom and I had a quick Bucharest city break at Hotel Tranzzit. It’s clean, and the receptionist was kind and spoke English. The central train station is around a 12-minute walk away, with a direct train to the international airport. Bus stops are within five minutes, while the nearest metro is about a 15-minute walk. I’m not sure whether breakfast was included, but there are coffee shops around the corner. We took the train to the Constitution Square Christmas market, about five minutes, and the bus to the Westside Christmas market, around 25 minutes. Bucharest really is magical at Christmas.

Our room was spacious, with a huge comfortable bed, flower wallpaper on one wall, and a large window that brought in lots of light. The view into the inner yard was fine, and we liked the mirrors and glass-brick bathroom wall. Housekeeping cleaned the room every day. Our train was almost three hours late, so we arrived after check-in time. We got no response through email, Booking.com messages, or the check-in time request, but that request did give us a phone number for WhatsApp. After registering online, we received the room access code. We were on the ground floor near reception, and mornings got loud, so forget sleeping past 8 a.m. A small shelf by the shower and a dimmer light near the bed would have been useful.
