Villa Zorba

My family and I had a short vacation here, and it was absolutely amazing. We did get bitten by bed bugs on the first night, but that was the only downside, so it was fine. I really recommend it if you want a cheap but amazing hotel.

Parking was a major problem, since your car could be blocked at any time. We booked a double room, but it had no air conditioning despite the room details listing it, and the photos didn’t match the room. With it 33 Celsius, opening a window for air just let the smoke from the sitting area and the noise straight into our room. We expected a garden view and air conditioning, but got smoke and noise instead. This felt more like a guesthouse than a hotel.

Ciprian and Daniel made our three-night stay really comfortable, always ready to help with our questions. The staff and service were great, though the management could pay more attention to cleaning. For what you pay, I’m not sure why people expect four-star service. There’s a water filter for refilling your tumbler, plus a proper kitchen with a microwave and coffee machine. You can get pretty much anything you need, and if not, ask Ciprian or Daniel. The place is a bit tucked away, but we didn’t mind skipping the tram right out front. A Bolt ride from Union park took 5 minutes and cost only 13 RON. Bus 100 from Otopani airport to Piata Uniri 2 was only 3 RON. I’d definitely come back and recommend it.

The mattress was hard, which was the one downside. Otherwise, the room and bathroom were clean, the staff were very friendly, and there was a shared kitchen with a garden lobby. We could park inside the locked compound, and they even let us use their washing machine.
