A few hours before I was due to arrive, I called to get the PIN and was told check-in wasn’t possible unless I sent a copy of my ID. I’d already refused that request, which had come a few days after booking, along with other requests. I’d booked through Booking, drawn in by the good reviews. They could have told me right away that I wouldn’t be able to check in without the ID copy, instead of waiting until the day and putting me in a position where I lost my accommodation. That felt like an attempt to pressure me into handing it over. I’ve used Booking for years and made dozens of reservations, and no one had ever asked me to provide a copy of my ID before. The way this was handled really bothered me.

It’s only a five-minute walk to Cantacuzino Castle, and you can see the castle from here too. The place was beautiful, clean, quiet, and had absolutely everything we needed.

We’d be happy to come back! It’s a peaceful spot, close to everything you might want in Bușteni. Communication with the host was fine.
