Hotel Lucy Star

Cheap, but it feels like an old city motel. The towels and hotel are old, there’s no buffet, and if you want a second coffee nobody seems to care. They advertise a restaurant, but it doesn’t open in the evening. There’s a metal workshop in the yard and a crossroads nearby.

The place doesn’t look luxurious like a four-star hotel restaurant, but the food is delicious, even better than at some four-star restaurants. The staff are nice too. I’d especially recommend the chef’s specialty and the chicken breast with mushroom sauce.

I found the Wi-Fi password stuck along the bottom of the hallway mirror just as I was getting ready to leave, since the hotel book didn’t have the updated one. That was my only niggle. The room itself was spotless, the bedding was clean and soft, and it felt much better quality than the usual crispy hotel sheets. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a log. I also loved the hotel name embroidered on the bedding, a really nice touch. Housekeeping was faultless, and the staff I met were all friendly. The reception lady was welcoming even though I arrived close to 3am. The bus station is less than a five-minute walk away, handy if you’re traveling on. I work in hospitality and was very happy with my stay. The value for money is very good, and I’ll definitely return.

We had dinner for a special event. The food was good, but the service needed to be much better. For our group of 20, the table wasn’t in a private room, nobody topped up our drinks, and the food took forever to arrive. Service was okay at best.
