Hotel Paradis Cluj Napoca

The price and quality are completely out of balance. You pay a premium for substandard service and poor conditions. This was hands down the worst hotel experience of my life. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here.

The hotel is out in the questionable suburbs, about a 30-minute walk from town. Breakfast had plenty of items, but the quality varied, and on my last day I only had coffee. The spa wasn't working when I went to use it, and nobody had warned me before arrival or at check-in. I'd booked because of the advertised spa, and Paradis cost significantly more than similar room-only places because I expected the pool and sauna. When I asked for a partial refund, two receptionists said they were checking with the manager. As I left, one told me the manager had approved the refund and they were initiating it. A week passed with no refund, so I emailed. They then said spa access wasn't included in my booking and they wouldn't return any money. Look closely at their Expedia page and see if it says the spa costs extra. It gives the impression that access is included. I'd call the advertising deceptive, and the receptionists polite only until they get you out the door. Even if the spa had been open, the rest of the stay had its issues.

The menu isn't very varied, but it covers the basics. The rooms look good and the bed is comfortable. The hotel is very clean and cosy, and the staff are polite, especially the waiters. The downside is how thin the walls are, you can hear all kinds of noise from other rooms.

The rooms were unbearably hot, even with the heating switched off, and there was no way to open the windows. The WiFi didn't work in our room, and the fridge in room 400 was broken, so the drinks were as hot as the room. There was no toothbrush or toothpaste, though the towels were clean. These small problems are why I gave four stars. Otherwise, the service was great, the apartments clean with a nice modern design, and the food very tasty. Breakfast was amazing. My overall impression is quite positive and I would recommend it. A huge thanks to our waiter today, such a pleasant, polite, patient and simply nice person. I don't know his name, but he was really good 👍
