Le Petit Paris

We only stayed one night and didn’t eat there. The apartment was retro, nice and spacious, with two huge rooms, plenty of towels and heating. Service was good, and it’s right in the center near lots of coffee shops. Still, it felt expensive for what was offered. We had no warm water in the evening, and although we were told our baggage could stay in the room until 13, we arrived at 12,30 to find the door wide open after the cleaning staff had been through. Anyone could have come in while our bags were there. Breakfast wasn’t available until 09.00.

I found this little hotel while looking for somewhere near the city center and the places I needed to be in the second half of July 2021, for a sad occasion. It was quiet and very clean, and the receptionist, or administrator, was helpful and nice. The small restaurant-terrasse had a limited menu, but it was very good. I had the 4 cheeses pasta twice, if I remember correctly. Unirii Plaza was five minutes away, surrounded by small restaurants and boutiques. Vlad the Impaler birth place was close too, with restaurants around it. Nice, cheap, worth every penny.

The hosts were warm, and the place was very clean and quiet. It’s close to everything, with lots of beautiful spots within walking distance. A beautiful place in Cluj, highly recommended.

I pass by this place several times most weeks, but I’d only been inside once. That was enough to decide I wouldn’t go back. A couple of weeks ago, some friends and I planned to meet for coffee at a shop we knew was worth the time and money. It was closed, so we went down the street here instead. At first things seemed fine. We weren’t in a hurry, but it took a long time for the server to bring menus, even though she’d seen us come in. There were four of us and the place was literally empty. When we asked for drinks, we were told they were out of whatever we wanted. We were disappointed. I ordered water, and my friends got lemonade. My water took about twenty minutes to arrive, though at least it was still cold. The waitress was so rude to us every time we dealt with her, it was like she shouldn’t even treat a homeless dog that way. We were all stunned, and the whole point of our get-together was lost. My friends even started joking about how unbelievable her treatment was. We cut the visit short, finished quickly and waited for the receipt. She was too busy flirting with the bartender, and it took around 30 minutes to get the bill. We paid and ran out as fast as we could. The water was around 6 lei and the lemonade over 10 lei, which is ridiculous.
