The owner’s reply just reinforces my complaint. I clearly said I hadn’t stayed there. Whatever my personal reasons for not booking in advance, I came to check in as a walk-in and found the guesthouse door closed. Does that mean you have no customers, or that you lock them inside? A respectful guesthouse should keep its doors open and welcome potential customers willing to spend money there. If there are no rooms available, you can simply apologize and use some common sense, so the customer feels unlucky rather than as if they’re at your service.

The mattress was old and seemed to have springs inside, so we didn’t sleep well. Otherwise, it’s a cosy place that’s nice for couples and a few nights. I would have given it five stars if the mattress had been good, since we wanted a good night’s sleep.

It was a bit above average, with friendly staff. One downside: there’s no refrigerator if you need somewhere to keep food or drinks.
