Pensiunea Dandu

The courtyard was spotless, and Dan, I believe, was calm, polite and welcoming. He spent the time around the tables in the yard, looking after the place. We were impressed by the owners and never felt we'd been ripped off. Places like this seem rare now, with so many trying to squeeze as much as possible out of a short tourist season. We'll definitely come back on another holiday. We stayed one night in a family room for four, with two large double beds, lots of room and cupboards, and a very large bathroom with an open shower. At 50€ for the night, it was a bargain. The location is handy for Transfagarasan and Vidraru: Poienari Citadel is 10 minutes away, Vidraru 30 minutes, and Transfagarasan an hour. Breakfast costs an extra 30 lei per person. It was ordinary, nothing special, but decent enough to fill us up for the day. They also serve coffee, beer and other cold drinks throughout the day, at prices like those in a supermarket, which is a big plus.

The place is great value, and I'd highly recommend it. It's ideally located, just 10 minutes from barajul vidraru and the bears to see on Transfagarasean road. The hosts were very friendly, the rooms lively, and the hangout areas and facilities really clean.

The host was so welcoming. He got a grill fire going for us and offered us a local drink. Everything was very clean. Highly recommend.

There were eight of us, aged 19 to over 50, and we really enjoyed our one night at the “Dandu” place. It was neat and clean, with attention to detail. After several nights on the road, I finally got a comfortable bed. Their coffee machine is really good, and the breakfast option cost 20RON. It was convenient and delicious. If you're passing through and need a place for a night or longer, this is a strong option. Congratulations to the hardworking owners for keeping things neat, looking after their customers and putting smiles on their faces!
