Royal Hotel Craiova

A lovely little hotel, and the staff are very polite.

I slept really well here: the bed, mattress, and pillows were all high quality, and the hotel was very quiet. The room also had bathrobes and good towels. I especially liked the statue in the room, it felt like a piece of art and brought back childhood memories. Breakfast was a real treat, with tasty bread, coffee, fruit, cheeses, seeds, yogurt, jams, sausages, porridge, juice, and plant-based milk. The woman in the restaurant was kind and attentive, kept checking that we had what we wanted, and replenished the food regularly. The hotel has a lovely 19th-century manor feel, with paintings, classic decor, wooden furniture, high ceilings, marble stairs, and classic chairs and armchairs in natural colors. I found the setting relaxing, both emotionally and physically. I picked it because of its good reviews, attractive photos, and closeness to the congress I attended, and it turned out to be very good value for money. I’d confidently recommend it.

I’ve stayed here for the past two years and expect to return on future trips to Craiova. It’s very affordable, and the breakfast buffet was quite nice, though it costs extra. The mattresses are amazing, and the rooms are clean. Laundry is available for an extra fee, with clothes brought back to your room the same day. It’s a historic mansion, so be ready for lots of stairs and no elevator. Wi-Fi is free throughout, but in room 201 it kept cutting out. It worked well in the lobby and restaurant.

Being in Romania with my group felt special, especially because the hotel was such a short walk from the city center, around 7-10 minutes. The food was delicious, and we were served beautiful five-course meals, something I’d never had at a hotel before, especially one this affordable. We stayed at Hotel Royal for about two weeks. The place was spotless, and the staff were amazing, friendly people. We became close with them during our stay, and when it was time to head home, we were crying goodbye, and so were they. I couldn’t have asked for a better hotel in Craiova. Five stars for the friendliest, most awesome stay!🇷🇴👌🏼👍🏾🙌🏽🤗
