Pensiunea Dunarea Veche

I booked the whole place for a small family break with our extended family, and it turned out to be a great decision. The rooms were comfortable, with air conditioning and all the amenities, and the hosts had put together a thoughtful program. They’re amazing, highly educated people, and the little details helped everyone, young and old, feel welcome and relaxed. Mihai and Stefan, our guides, taught us a lot about the Danube, Letea, Sulina, and life in that part of the country. They looked after us and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. Everyone came away impressed and said it was more than they expected. A few things we wondered about before going: the transfer from Tulcea to Mila 23 takes two hours, but it’s scenic, passing small canals full of birds and swans, lakes, and other parts of the Danube. Our two five-year-old girls didn’t get bored. The guides drove carefully, so we didn’t need to worry about feeling sick on the boat. The food was fresh, homemade, plentiful, and served by very nice kitchen staff. There was always some left over. Mosquitoes weren’t a problem on the trips or during our full day of fishing; at the pension we saw only a few at sunset. If you want to discover this part of Romania, which I think is the country’s most beautiful, I’d choose this place and their program. You’ll see everything.

The guided outings were well arranged and informative, and the setting was peaceful and lovely. The food was delicious too. We had a great experience!

A clean room, great staff, and delicious food. It’s an ideal base for exploring the Danube Delta. I strongly recommend it.
