Pastravaria Zavoi

The staff were lovely and gave excellent service, and the restaurant food was very good. The cabins, though, were below par: no tea or coffee, just a kettle; cheap toilet paper; an uncomfortable mattress; and a wet-room bathroom where everything gets soaked in the shower. Hot water lasted about two minutes, the TV didn't work, and we got no housekeeping during our three-night stay, despite the cards saying it happens every two days. We didn't complain about those things because the fishing mattered more to us, but that was taken away too. We paid over €500, and after being allowed to fish one night, the owner said we couldn't the next, even though it hadn't been a problem before. We stayed an extra night because of fishing and then lost an hour of it. The hours kept changing, along with the rules, apparently with the wind and the owner's mood. We lost bait and fish, and we caught 12, despite being told we wouldn't catch any. We were also the only guests staying there, so I can only assume the catch was the problem. The key snapped in half while I was locking the door. I was told not to worry about it, and I even helped the staff change the lock, but then the owner handed me a bill without an invoice. It was clear the key had broken and there was nothing I could do. I'm 5ft 1 with no strength, and the replacement key proved I couldn't snap it. The staff aren't to blame, but the owner was a nightmare, which matches stories we'd heard from locals and staff. I should have listened and stayed away. This was my first trip to Romania, and it left a bad impression. The place might be nice if fishing isn't important to you, but if you're coming to fish, don't bother. The unpredictable rules and mood-based power trips turned a lovely stay into a very disappointing end, and it felt like a money trap, somewhat like the current political affairs in the United States.

It was 35 degrees outside, and the animals were shut in a cage with no clean water. They looked like they were suffering, and someone should do something about that. As for lunch, the food quality was poor for the price, service was terrible, and we had to ask for our drinks at least three times. The waitress was rude when we ordered. In the end, we ate at home. Worst restaurant I've ever been to!

The restaurant was a great experience, and the staff were really helpful. Families will like the indoor and outdoor playgrounds, and there are farm animals too.

The little restaurant has a friendly atmosphere, and the small cabins are warm and interesting. Pastravaria Zavoi is a lovely place to spend time with family, and it feels like a unique experience for everyone.
