We were travelling together to drive the Transfagarassan, so the location worked really well. The owner was friendly and chatty, and the food was very good. The coffee was excellent too. I woke up a couple of times to check there weren't any shadowy figures in the room waiting to bite my neck. Just kidding, it was perfectly comfortable.
The location is right across from the central market (piata), though the entrance is on Strada Decebal, not Strada Negru voda. Take one of the two alleys to cross over. I like quiet, simple places with friendly people, and this fits. Owner/manager Mihai and his wife are very nice, there's a lobby bar, and the coffee is very good. My stay was perfect, the price was excellent, and I love this place. I recommend Pensiune Mikelis.
We had a large, clean room and got good value for the money. Nothing fancy, and there was no balcony.
I didn't stay at the hotel, just went to the bar. I liked it, the Wi-Fi was good, and the owner was very friendly.
They had given our booked room 10 to someone else before we arrived. All they said was, "That's life."
