Casa Belazur

We had a nice two-night stay in a bright, clean room. The bed was extra large and comfortable, and I enjoyed the little hot tub in the bathroom. Toiletries and a hair dryer were provided. Breakfast was included in the very good price, served à la carte on the terrace with six options, mostly egg dishes and meat. You can ask for meat-free versions if you’re vegetarian. We also had dinner here, which was delicious and reasonably priced. I’d recommend the place.

The owner manages the rooms, and after finding a large cockroach in ours in the morning, we went to tell her. She was rude and spoke to us as if we were beneath her. She didn’t apologize, and accused us of calling the place unclean, which we hadn’t. First she said this was the first time it had happened, then said bugs like that are common in the area and climb through the pipes. I also said I didn’t want the included breakfast because I didn’t know where the cockroach might have been. She took that as an accusation that the kitchen was dirty and tried to explain that this kind of cockroach doesn’t stay in the kitchen, as though that mattered. The owner was the problem, not the staff.

The bathroom could use attention: the shower head was broken, and there was a slight moldy smell. Still, the service was flawless, the staff helpful, and the restaurant served generous portions with inexpensive wine. It’s a cozy inn, and the Christmas atmosphere felt warm and almost Hollywood-like. I’d definitely recommend it. 5/5
