I gave it four stars partly out of nostalgia. My parents used to bring me here for ice cream, and for cocktails for them, back in 78-83. We only stopped for lunch this time: the frogs were okay, the shrimp salad was good, and the calamari was so-so. Service was quite poor, and it was overpriced.
ACAPULCO has a well-known location, so I expected more. The service was poor, and the staff seemed untrained for a restaurant that used to deserve its reputation. They don't have enough people to serve customers, either. Waiting at least 40 minutes for a simple order is a lot. You can decide whether that's worth it, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I booked a room facing the sea, but got one overlooking the parking lot. The room and bathroom were filthy, and the toilet paper had mold on it. It was very cold, with damp sheets and blankets, and the staff never wore masks. Everything about the stay was horrible. For your own health, stay away from this hotel.
Getting there is the main problem, though it's not really the restaurant's fault. All the roads leading to it are under construction, so you should plan to go on foot. The service was good, and the food was average, nothing special.
We went back a couple of times over the past few months after being away for more than five years, and the place still looks great. There are two dining rooms with a stunning sea view, plus a small bar. The menu is huge, with soups, salads, starters, pizza, pasta, and traditional dishes such as chicken liver with mashed potatoes. Service is quick and the food is really tasty.
