The beach was the one part that took away from the stay. It’s outside the hotel grounds, around 150 meters away through a sort of bazaar, and had a mixed crowd with sellers walking by every couple of minutes. A few people wandering around felt a bit unsettling, so we were glad to get back to the hotel’s peaceful grounds. The beach operation isn’t in the hotel’s hands, though. Back at the hotel, the pool was large and very clean, with plenty of sunbeds available at any time without reserving one. The bar had lots of drinks and cocktails, as well as food. The grounds are a huge, well-kept park with shaded spots by the little forest, a playground, and neatly cut grass. We booked an apartment and loved the view, spacious rooms, big balcony, and huge bed. Our son had his own space on the extendable living room couch. There were two bathrooms, with a hall between them that could be closed off by two doors for privacy. The front desk staff were welcoming, and Raluca and Lucian were especially helpful. The cleaning was great too. Breakfast had a good variety, with freshly made omelets to order alongside the cheeses and other options. The restaurant also serves lunch and dinner as a buffet or a la carte, and has some evening entertainment. The spa was another highlight. My wife had several treatments during our stay and felt relaxed and happy. After two months of shoulder pain, she felt relief. We also had excellent sessions in the indoor pool, with warm, very salty water from Techirghiol Lake. Guests can also use mud from the lake, known worldwide for its healing properties, and enjoy wet and dry sauna sessions. The staff there, from receptionists to physicians, were friendly and keen to help. We had an amazing stay and will definitely come back.

The chef himself served us a wonderfully cooked dorada, with vegetables that were some of the tastiest I’ve had in ages. He was also great with the kids and surprised them with some fruit. I had a lovely time at the restaurant and would like to visit again.

We came for the sea, but the food ended up being the highlight of the vacation. Every day brought delicious dishes and great quality, especially at the Blue Dolphin, where Chef Laurentiu Draganoiu works his magic. I’d recommend it for a quiet, intimate getaway with really good food.

The hotel, its surroundings, and facilities are great, but the staff can really bring down your holiday mood. The team seemed unmotivated, unhappy, and careless. I hope the manager, HR, or staff director sees this and helps raise the service level. A few training sessions, better motivation, compensation plans, or whatever’s needed could help. Maybe management needs to change. This hotel deserves better and could compare with great hotels outside Romania if the service improved. In the morning, staff dropped four or five sunbed mattresses on top of our towels. At a four-star hotel, I’d expect a good morning and help putting the mattress on the sunbed and opening the umbrella. The restaurant had the same atmosphere: we had to ask for the tables to be arranged and for salt and pepper, and the barista seemed unhappy. The cleaning staff also didn’t seem pleased when asked for anything.
