Hotel Fortuna

The staff were really nice and did what they could to help. The hotel is very close to the seafront, about 10 minutes from the beach. The pool and food were great, and the meals were plentiful and good. We had no food issues; most of it looked like the photos on the hotel site. There were kids' entertainers and shows in the evening, and we enjoyed the massage services too. The pool itself was nice, but the rooms, at least the standard ones, didn't seem ready for guests. The bathrooms were especially rough: tiny at about 1.5 by 1 m, with no shower curtain, silicone sealant spread everywhere, and a roughly 5 cm gap under the top holder beneath the mirror. There was no air conditioning on any hotel floor or at reception, which made things feel like a sauna in the summer heat. Parking was frustrating and very crowded. It was paid, and I think the price depends on the season. We paid 30 RON per day.

The beach was a 10-15 minute walk away. The kids' pool was nice, small but warm, maybe too warm, while the big pool was too cold. The rooms were quite small, so a family with two kids should book an apartment. We couldn't because they were all taken. The double room's bed was a small twin, not a king, and the extra single bed they gave us was a flimsy folding camping bed with very loose strings. It wasn't suitable for older kids or adults. There were varied food options, though I wouldn't call them great. Kids' activities with paid entertainers were offered, but they were always late and had equipment problems, which gave the impression the hotel didn't care much.

The room had A/C, a fridge, and a hairdryer, plus a medium-sized balcony with a little table and two chairs where we could dry clothes or towels. It's a very nice place for families with kids, with evening activities, a water playground, and a pool. Breakfast was very good and had lots of variety.

The breakfast looked decent, but the hotel is still very low quality, even though it was refurbished two years ago. The plumbing wasn't installed properly, and water leaked from both the toilet and shower cabin. The A/C in one of the rooms I rented didn't work. I told reception as soon as I noticed the A/C and plumbing problems, and they said someone would look at them the next day. I checked out then, so I can't say whether they did. Parking was a real mess: you pay, but no space is guaranteed. Another driver's bad parking blocked my car, and neither reception nor the police helped. In response to the hotel's reply, this hotel wasn't my choice, but someone else in my group picked it. I'd stayed here for many years in a row and had seen improvements, so I hoped they would continue. This time I stayed only one night.
