Hotel Giulia

The room was just about bearable by this resort's standards, and poor by normal ones. Our triple room had very little outdoor space, though what there was looked nice. There was enough room for more seating or a toddler play area. The ancient AC worked, but the TV looked about 20 years old and didn't work, which we didn't mind. Getting towels took nearly a full day after they were forgotten. There's no elevator, and while that wasn't an issue for us, the stairs are very steep and tall, so I wouldn't suggest it with a child. The receptionist was often absent, didn't know English, and wasn't especially respectful. Parking isn't provided. Finding a spot, especially on a weekend, is a struggle, and you may end up walking about 0.5 km. The hotel is on a busy road, across from two terrace restaurants, so there can be loud people and music late at night. We were especially unhappy that other hotel guests played music loudly until late and management did nothing. When we paid, they couldn't give us a receipt because, they said, the accountant only started at 5PM. Apparently I was meant to come back from the beach for it. You could get better conditions, service, and location for less in another area.

It was okay.

We arrived on the day of our reservation expecting the confirmed triple room we'd requested because we were travelling with a child. Instead, reception said no rooms of that type were left. They said those rooms had been assigned on earlier days, and the only one still available had technical problems, making it unsuitable for a child, especially one under a year old. The receptionist said they'd meant to tell us but hadn't had time, even though reception was free and people were just standing around when we arrived. I've since seen reviews describing the same thing. In my view, this may be intentional, with guests who are told there's no room being sent to other guesthouses or partner places on the other side of the resort. I'd look for somewhere much safer from the start instead of making the trip with a child through the sun and crowds only to be told it was for nothing.

The room was clean, even if it wasn't spotless. Getting to the beach took us about 20 minutes on foot, which was a reasonable distance. The rest was rough. The bathroom door only opened around 30 cm before it got stuck, and then you had to tug hard to open it further. The curtains were partly off their rail and looked ready to fall. A bucket, broom, and other cleaning supplies were left in the hallway right outside the door.
