Green Park Boutique Hotel

The building is beautiful and historic, and the location is great. We stayed just one night and had a good experience overall. The breakfast was good, and with only six rooms it’s generally quiet. The rooms are a little dated, though, and the carpet looks sad, so I’m giving it four stars.

The villa has old-fashioned charm and the staff were nice, but the owner was rude. The air conditioning wasn’t running when we arrived, apparently because no one had turned it on after winter. There’s no elevator or help with luggage. The minibar in room 103 was empty, disconnected, and didn’t work anyway. Things sometimes go wrong, but the owner accused us of not calling the day before to report the issues instead of apologizing or offering a discount. If you expect a 4-star hotel, this isn’t the place. Romania has so many beautiful things, but its tourism service isn’t developing to international standards or focusing on serving clients.

The only downside is that every room is in the attic and has just ceiling windows. The rooms are spacious and bright, but there’s no view. Otherwise, it’s great value, fairly central, and beautifully renovated with taste from an impressive old building. Everything was very clean, the staff were friendly and wore masks, and breakfast was decent.

The historic building itself is wonderful, and they’ve done a great job restoring it. We stayed three nights this summer with our 1 1/2 year old daughter, who was very happy. On arrival, the owner welcomed us, showed us the rooms, and let us choose one. The rooms were spacious, very clean, nicely furnished, and air conditioned. Service, staff, rooms, and food were all top notch. The staff were helpful and well mannered, and they accommodated all our requests. We had breakfast every day and ate lunch at the restaurant twice, both times it was great. Each evening the owners thoughtfully asked if we wanted to park in the yard at no extra charge. We’d recommend the hotel 100% and will stay again when we’re in Focsani.
