Vila Bordeaux

The breakfast was delicious, and the room stayed warm on a cold night. The bed was good, everything was clean, and the comfort overall was good. The hotel looks good, has several services, and the view is wide open because the surrounding buildings are low. It’s centrally located though not right in the city core, with the Danube nearby. For the price, the value was very good, and the Covid measures were followed. I didn’t have any major complaints for the price. I’d suggest the young woman at reception greet guests warmly, smile more, and use a friendlier tone. Her manner could come across like a police officer checking documents.

We keep coming back because everyone at the rooftop and reception is so nice, professional, and helpful. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well designed, and the rooftop bar is great. This is our favourite place to stay in Galati.

We went to the restaurant with my wife's family, and everyone ordered something different and was impressed. The staff were great, my glass was never left empty, and the toilets were clean and well presented. We were already full but still had a look at the desserts. I chose the "Lava cake" with ice-cream and a wafer cone. The cake and ice-cream were in a good proportion, though I could have skipped the cone, and I would have preferred a spoon to a fork. My BBQ Ribs came on a stone plate with two pieces of corn on the cob, plenty of potato slices, and a small bowl of pickle wedges. The ribs were cooked superbly. They didn't come off the bone too easily, so they hadn't been baked or steamed before grilling. There was a good balance of meat and fat, with one side singed just enough to finish the taste. The potatoes were soft inside and crunchy outside, topped with grated white cheese. I didn't try the corn, but the mild pickles seemed to clear my taste so I could enjoy the rich ribs with each bite. When we arrived, we were told the restaurant space on the bottom floor was booked for an event, so our reserved table was upstairs. The dining area is spacious, with lots of windows and a skylight in the middle. The tables were close together, but the chairs were comfortable. There's also a balcony for fresh air, and smoking is allowed there. It was a superb meal, and I plan to dine here again next time I'm in Galați, Romania.

The restaurant is a cosy, really cool spot and the dishes are very good. Rooms are spacious and clean, and all have AC, though not every room has a balcony. Breakfast is quite good, with six separate options to choose from.
