Vila Briana

The people were generally very polite, but I definitely won't come back. We were about a 25-minute drive from Paltinis, which felt quite far. For the rest of our stay we ate at nearby Pensiunea Mai, and the service and food there were very good. We had booked a two-room apartment for four people through Booking, with four breakfasts, and paid 200 lei in advance. On arrival, they asked for the remaining 810 lei upfront. I'd never been asked to pay the whole balance in advance before, and I had to specifically request a receipt. The apartment had an extremely strong smell of cheap air freshener, so I left the windows open for a few hours. The whole complex felt worn out and needs refreshed furniture and carpets. There were very few food choices, mostly meat. I ordered salads for dinner, but the vegetables were old and dry and tasted bad. Breakfast was the same the second day. I asked for a refund for the breakfasts for the remaining two days. The lady was very polite, but said the money would be taken from the cook's salary. I decided not to take the refund.

Our godchildren held their wedding here, and we had a great time. The food and service were great, and the staff were so friendly and hospitable.

The food was good, but some of the furniture, appliances, and cleaning could use improvement. The music at the New Year's party was terrible.

The pool among the mountains is the real draw. Food was an 8/10, though maybe that's just me.
