The staff were really friendly and well mannered, and I enjoyed the food. The location is another plus. The appliances seemed old, though: when it was hot, the air conditioner was too loud to sleep with, and the fridge made noise too, so I had to unplug both. Opening the windows might have helped, but mine had no mosquito net and insects started getting in. For the price and location it’s fine, but there’s plenty of room for the owners to improve things.

I liked looking down from the balcony at the busy square, and I’d open the window whenever I was in the room. The deep, big bathtub was lovely too. The room itself was clean but austere, almost like a place to study for the priesthood. Its old fashioned feel softened that starkness for me: the little elevator, bathroom, facade and window view all brought to mind the 1930s and gave the hotel a bit of romance. You couldn’t ask for a better spot, with central Iasi right outside and some good cafes and restaurants only steps away. I’d highly recommend it to anyone after a little pre-war atmosphere during a stay in Iasi.

Leaving my car in the hotel parking area was a problem, since other cars hit its doors and anyone can park there if they pay. The elevator was also so loud that it shook my bed whenever it started and kept me from sleeping. The staff were nice and moved me to another room the next day, where the noise was quieter but still audible. I was very disappointed with my stay here in February, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

They’ve made a huge improvement, so I’d say give it a try. The rooms have new laminate floors, furniture, paint and bathrooms, and the AC is quiet and works well. The smoke smell is gone, too. The people and location are great, and there’s a currency exchange in the lobby. Parking is limited and the elevator is tiny, though there isn’t anything they can do about that.
