Coral Hotel

The building work going on everywhere was understandable, but I expected the staff to be more focused on customer service. A few times I was told they were busy with “something else,” which made me feel like my presence didn’t matter. I had to ask for toiletries two days in a row, and even with the green light on to request cleaning, I ended up going to reception and asking a second time. It was too expensive for that experience. I did enjoy my stay because of other things, just not because of the hotel. Maybe I’m asking too much, but I think my complaints are fair.

I wasn’t happy enough to stay, so I cut the visit short and moved to another hotel. I had booked one of the most expensive rooms, with a jacuzzi in the main room, but repeatedly had to ask reception several times a day for cleaning or toiletries. I used the green light to signal that cleaning was needed, and it was ignored every day. Cleaners also complained about the wet floor around the jacuzzi, though I’d used some towels on the floor. The restaurant had a very limited menu: for two days they couldn’t provide chicken legs or thighs, cheese pancakes, or beef, and the wait was long even though I was alone. Staff said they were busy with other things, which I don’t consider an excuse. Reception service was helpful, but the restaurant fell short. The hotel is isolated and out of town, with no shops nearby. The rooms are dated and a bit tatty, and work is underway, so it may take a while to finish. The pillows are very old and need replacing. There were two small duvets on the double bed, and I couldn’t see the point of a double bed set up that way. Thanks for the stay, but I won’t return.

The room was spacious and had AC, but it needed a thorough clean. I found hair and calcium buildup in the shower, which was disappointing. We had booked by phone, but the information we were given changed by the time we arrived, and reception seemed disorganized, with no clear sense of what was going on. The hotel is far from the city, and we weren’t told about the SPA area during our stay. There was an event that night, and we could hear the music all night even from the second floor. Breakfast costs extra and has a few choices, but the omelet was really good.

I can’t see how this is rated as a four star hotel. The mat between the beds was filthy, and the only body towel I got had a big orange stain. There wasn’t a foot mat, the shower enclosure wouldn’t close, the sink barely had any water pressure, and the shower was either cold or just dripping. Honestly, it was the worst shower of my life. A hostel might be cheaper and work better.
