International Iasi Hotel

The breakfast was very good and the hotel’s location is great for a stay in Iasi. But after coming here for the third time, I can say I won’t return. The rooms were clean, but the temperature was far too high, and opening the window barely helped. One night there was a disco directly above my room, so sleep was impossible. The service didn’t really help with either problem, which made the stay worse, especially for the price.

The central location, facilities, and breakfast were all good, but the cold room made the stay deeply uncomfortable and overshadowed everything else. It stayed cold all night even with the heaters on. I contacted reception; staff came up and said it would be fine, but the problem continued. The insulation clearly wasn’t adequate, and I ended up sleeping in my coat.

The location is the only thing I found worthwhile, if you don’t need to spend the day inside. The rooms smelled moldy, the carpets were filthy, the shower head wasn’t firmly attached and caught me by surprise, and the bathrooms weren’t working properly. There was also the possibility of taking home little insect friends. Cleanliness, sanitary conditions, friendly staff, and functional bathrooms were all lacking. In my opinion, this doesn’t meet even a two-star standard, let alone four. Those stars seem purely decorative. It was 34C (93.2F) outside, so I specifically asked for a room with working AC turned on. Instead, I got an open window, a room at 28C (82F), moldy odor, and unbearable humidity. In an annoyed tone, the front desk said the windows were open because other guests complained about the smell, and that the AC wouldn’t work unless the room card was in its slot. They told me to wait for it to cool down. That hardly felt like a four-star experience. The next day, a black cockroach was wandering around the room. Staff already knew about them, and again answered with an annoyed tone: other guests had complained, they asked for a photo and how many I’d seen, then said it was summer and nothing could be done. After I showed evidence, they moved me to another room. The staff member helping with the move asked me to point out the cockroach so he could photograph it. Administration asked about it too, which made me smile. I couldn’t show them the live insect, only the photo I’d taken before I had to deal with the problem myself.

I stayed for a weekend with my wife and our 6 year old kid. The hotel’s location and breakfast get five stars, but the noise and mold smell in the room get one. A nearby club played music until 4 a.m.; we could feel the bass and hear every word, and nobody could sleep. Check the club schedule if you’re considering staying. Rooms are for resting, which is why I’m giving one star.
