Opal by the Sea

I had a really nice stay at hotel opal, and the views around the hotel were lovely.

The pool was the one thing that helped, but I hadn't travelled around 300 kilometers just to sit beside it. The beach was a nightmare, covered in rocks, and the room was dirty, with cigarettes on the floor and a shower that looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 80s. The food was alright. I was there for only two days, so it didn't feel repetitive. Still, the stay wasn't worth what I paid, especially since I'd already booked a week in Greece for the same price. The hotel needs to improve its conditions. Maybe I'll come back in a couple of years.

We stayed at another hotel and came here only for breakfast. It was a buffet from 7 to 10, and by about 8:30 it was extremely crowded. The waiters, if that's what we should call them, could use a bit of training.

The beach was quite far from the hotel, but the water was shallow and the beach had a gentle slope, which was great for kids. Adults wanting to swim might not like that, and there were quite a lot of rocks on the hotel beach, especially near the entrance. Parking was advertised as free, but it was full every day of our booking. They also make you wear a bracelet the whole time, even though it doesn't seem useful when the restaurant asks for your room number. WiFi was weak and mostly didn't work. The lifts were decent, and there were four of them. Staff were hit or miss, some friendly and welcoming, others less so. At first we were only given one room key.
