Pensiunea La Gura Portitei

Completely disappointed. The house is in Jurilovca and has nothing to do with Gura Portitei. There’s a cemetery across the road, no restaurant, nowhere to fish, and dampness in the rooms. When you make a reservation, they take all the money from your account. That’s theft in plain sight. The owner is a crook. I paid 120 per person to get to Gura Portitei, but people at the port there said the round trip costs 60 lei. Avoid this place. Booking should shut it down.

The transport was a major problem. In the middle of the pandemic, although the administrator claimed in online videos that a 100-person boat was used with only 40 passengers aboard, we were put on a 20-seat boat with 30 people packed in and no requirement to wear masks. I don’t even think that boat exists, since it wasn’t docked at Gura Portitei or when leaving Jurilovca. Staying at this guesthouse also required paying for restaurant meals. Four nights in the off-season came to 2200 lei, with 1000 lei for accommodation and the remaining 1200 lei loaded onto a card to spend at their restaurant. The catch was that the card money couldn’t be used for alcoholic drinks, which we only found out when paying the bill. Restaurant tables were disinfected only when requested, not after each customer as they should have been. The sea was full of algae. It’s a shame about the gorgeous scenery, because the service leaves a lot to be desired.

The name sounds appealing, so you might think you’re booking at Gura Portitei. I assume that’s why many people leave reviews believing they’re talking about the place across the lake, but they aren’t. They also move other guesthouses’ locations on the map onto theirs, so you can end up at their gate by accident. I’d stayed at other places in Jurilovca and got there two years ago. This year, these crooks pulled some tricks. I’ve stayed with lots of guesthouses and hosts in the area, and this kind of tourism scam should disappear. No, Mr. Owner, don’t bother replying.
