What stood out was how personal and welcoming the service felt, more than anywhere else I’ve stayed in Romania. The host can drive you to places, take time to show and explain archaeological sites, and even take you by boat to the Black Sea. He also serves breakfast and dinner when he can. The food is made with fresh, non-imported ingredients. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable enough, and you can control your own AC. The one thing that could be improved is the smell in the upstairs bathrooms. It’s a hotel, but the stay can be much more than just somewhere to sleep. Make use of the hosts’ hospitality, and you might even make friends.

Marius and Claudia organize trips around the area for a very reasonable price, which added a lot to our holiday. They were friendly and professional hosts, and made our stay at pensiune Milica one to remember. The food was very good, and our room was clean and nice. We highly recommend it, and plan to spend our holidays there again next year.

Claudia was warm and welcoming, and clearly knows a lot about travel both nearby and around the world. We had a really interesting conversation about Iran. The pike stew with polenta I had was fresh and delicious, and the hosts even offered me a shot of brandy on the house.

The food is delicious and focused on local dishes like fish stew, so don’t come expecting burgers and French fries. The hosts are kind and shared lots of information about the area, from history to geography. They also gave us useful activity suggestions and helped us speak with someone who organizes Danube Delta trips. We stayed in September for my birthday, and the comfortable rooms made it an especially nice visit. I liked that they support small local producers too, with things like honey, natural soap, and wine.
