Grand Hotel Astoria

The staff were very nice, parking was good, and the beach was fairly close. Standard rooms have a fridge and air conditioning, but they’re on the small side and might suit just a few days. The pool was empty and apparently hasn’t been used for years. Could work if you just need somewhere to sleep after a full day out or at the beach.

The location is the one thing this hotel has going for it. The room was very small, the air conditioner was a joke, and the bathroom was tiny, about 1.5 square meters, with no amenities. It looks like a two-star hotel to me, so I don’t know why it has three.

The sea view was good, and the staff were friendly, especially at the restaurant. The room was very clean, and although the bathroom was tiny, it worked. Breakfast felt cheap and was far from enjoyable. I’d skip it and eat somewhere else. It’s a decent three-star option if you’re on a tight budget, as long as you don’t take the included breakfast.

The bathroom was awful, with mold in the corners, yellow marks on a toilet that looked long neglected, and a smell like a public restroom. The balcony was in even worse shape: run-down, unattractive, and with no privacy. Inside, the furniture was dirty, the curtains were gray with dust, and the old furnishings remained despite an attempt to redecorate. The bed creaked loudly whenever I moved, and the fridge in the room was especially noisy at night. Paying 330 RON for this felt like terrible value. It may be called a three-star hotel, but my stay felt below even one star. I won't make the mistake of coming back.
