The breakfast was very good, but it didn’t change my overall impression. This is an old hotel, with a huge dining room and conference room that look to have had some renovation. It must have been great once. The mattresses are bad, the rooms have poor lighting, and the staff don’t smile. They provide welcome water, but only two bottles for four people?

The rooms are clean and neat, with a coffee maker and minibar, and the stay includes really soft bathrobes and slippers. Parking is included, the location is great, and there are different food choices at every meal. It works for a short visit or a longer one. The main problem is the mattresses. They’re awful, with springs, and in a double bed you feel every little movement your partner makes, which can wake you up. A twin room might be better, or you could bring an inflatable mattress to put on the floor.

The beach is only a three-minute walk away, and we’d recommend the hotel. It was clean, and breakfast had a really good range of food. Our room’s view was the one downside: just gray rooftops, no lake or sea, and it was quite noisy outside.

We came back after five years and found the service and rooms much the same. The hotel has what you need for either a family holiday or a business trip, and it’s right across from Mamaia Sud beach. The all-inclusive option is worth recommending, with a range of food for different tastes. The beach is in front, though the area starts from the fifth umbrella because the earlier spots are shared and cost extra.
