Gobe Csarda

I enjoyed the Hungarian style throughout Góbé csárda, a nice guesthouse in the wonderful city of Oradea. It was my first time there, and someone in my town had recommended the place. The room was pleasant, though a bit drafty. Closing the bathroom window made it comfortable. The breakfast was basic and the menu wasn't very varied, but it was okay. If I remember correctly, the price was around 25 euro. One of the owners was really nice. The staff member serving breakfast was a bit grumpy and unhappy that I planned to leave the room around 11.30, even though checkout was at 12. I needed to do some work in the city without my big rucksack, so I left my luggage there. She made me feel like a bad person and said she couldn't clean until 11. I felt so uncomfortable that I couldn't wait to leave earlier. I think the owner should be more careful about whom they hire.

Avoid the room called "Csiki" at all costs. It's tiny and completely unsuitable for guests. What should have been a "magyar" tradition experience turned into a huge disappointment. After the first night of Csiki horror, they offered a meager dinner as compensation, but you'd be better off eating out. It took time-consuming arguments and persistence before they agreed to give us a different room and provide what we had paid for. The place isn't child friendly, with a steep staircase, the owner's dog allowed in the kitchen, and rather cold rooms. There were some positives: it's close to the aquapark, the staff were kind, the WiFi was good, and breakfast was the standard 3* motel kind.

The rooms were comfy and clean, the food was fabulous, and the hospitality was great. It also had a traditional feel. Highly recommended!
