Hotel Astoria Oradea

Suite 202, the luxury apartment, has an unbeatable view. The service, pub, and everything else are up to par too.

The location makes it easy to get around Oradea, and the rooms have a modern feel after recent renovations. Breakfast is basic, but sufficient, with the usual options to get you going. The room itself looked new, though the upkeep didn’t quite match that fresh appearance. There were small signs of wear and maintenance that could be better, like an apartment that’s been recently redone but is already showing some use. The Astoria might work if you mainly need somewhere to sleep after sightseeing, want a convenient location, and are watching your budget. Just keep expectations realistic about the maintenance.

We only stopped for lunch, so I can’t comment on the rooms. The meal was delicious and the portions were large. The staff were really polite and friendly, and they accommodated our request to make a particular dish non-spicy and provided a child’s chair. It made for a pleasant, longer lunch stop. We recommend it!

The hotel is close to the city center and parking is included, which are both good points. The room, though, looked like it hadn’t been renovated in ages and wasn’t cleaned properly. The toilet was dirty despite having a “disinfected” sticker, and I regret not taking a photo. The bathroom had other problems too. The tap on the sink was loose and moved whenever I turned it on. The shower fittings were off, so water sprayed sideways before reaching the shower head, and the pressure was so weak it felt like a light rain, maybe 10% of normal. There was dark, moldy or calcified-looking stuff on the shower. And there was even a pet in the room, as shown in the picture. Breakfast had far fewer options than I expected for a hotel this size.
