Pensiunea Phoenix

This little B&B is in a peaceful residential neighborhood, fairly close to the city center. We felt fine leaving the car outside the gate because the area seemed so calm. There are a couple of free spaces inside the closed area, and street parking in front is free too. The room felt a bit old-fashioned and the bathroom was tiny, but the price was very low, so I wasn’t expecting luxury. The sheets and towels were clean, and soap was provided. There was no hairdryer in the room, though I think the owners can bring one if you ask. The air conditioning worked really well, which matters in a hot Romanian summer, and there was a fridge in the room. Breakfast was a good spread of hot and cold food, with local and seasonal ingredients. There was good coffee and tea, honey, jams that seemed homemade, ham, salami, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, cereal, and more. No scrambled eggs, if that’s what you like. They also had things like French toast, fried zucchini, local mayo salads, and fresh seasonal fruit. The staff were super friendly. At check-in they gave us an Oradea map and helpful suggestions for places to eat, sights to see, and things to do around town. They prefer cash, either euros or local currency. I’d recommend it to budget travelers.

I slept really well here. It’s on a quiet street near the city center, and the room was clean. The staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast was generous. Good value for the money. I’ll come back.

The rooms are lovely, breakfast is good, and the hospitality was great. It’s a peaceful place in a really convenient spot, close to the town center. Excellent value.
