After I paid by card in GBP, despite the unfavorable exchange rate, I asked the host for more information about the property. I thought the listing looked like a two-bedroom apartment rather than a studio, and she snapped that I “must not have looked carefully enough.” She said that if I was unhappy, it was my problem. When I told her that wasn’t an appropriate way to speak to a client, she said she was stressed by ongoing construction work in her life. I suggested she try relaxation methods, perhaps even medicinal ones, if she couldn’t manage the stress. She got enraged and canceled my booking without discussing it further. The trouble started when I called to ask about payment. I preferred to pay at the property rather than use my card, but the host said she couldn’t take cash because my cards were in GBP and payment was required in RON. I understood and agreed to the card payment anyway. I had tried to book through Homestay, and the whole experience was deeply disappointing and showed a lack of respect and professionalism. After canceling, she seemingly removed the listing from the platform, possibly because I’d said I planned to leave a negative review about her behavior. This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I’ve had. The lack of empathy and poor communication were bad enough, and canceling the booking and hiding the listing felt retaliatory. Potential guests should be cautious.

The interior design is beautiful, and it’s in a quiet area, so it worked well for a one-night stop between flights. I’d have liked a microwave. The central heating fan made noise now and then. I’d put it at 3 to 4 stars.

The room we got had no air conditioner, and with 33-degree heat and no wind it was awful. We asked for a fan and received a new one in a box, which we had to assemble piece by piece. The owner seemed to think putting it together for the room was our job. There was no toilet paper until we asked, and the owner brought just one incomplete roll while being very rude. The towels were dirty and the pillows smelled. The reviews we’d seen don’t match the reality we found.

The bed was small and so uncomfortable. The towels had been used, and there was a terrible smell.
