Popas Turistic Padis

I loved staying in this cozy wooden apartment. The owners were so kind, the meals were excellent quality and very good value, and there were cute animals nearby. I’d choose this place again.

We had dinner at the restaurant, and both the locally foraged porcini and chantrelle mushroom soup and the grilled chicken with chips and salad were delicious. The produce was good quality and nicely cooked. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and card payments are accepted. We’d come back. We stayed one night after a hike, and the room was spotless, warm and had a comfortable, good-sized double bed with clean, good-quality linen. The ensuite had a good shower.

For what I paid, I’d give this place five stars. I did find it a bit expensive, but the food was fresh Romanian cooking, and with no grocery store within about 15 km, I think they’re doing a heck of a job. The room quality was spot-on, and it’s a very good place to spend a night. I stayed just one night, and it felt like an authentic Romanian experience.

We were satisfied with the cabin overall and can recommend it. It had comfortable beds, a private bathroom, heating we could control, and even a TV. Outside were wooden benches and a table, plus a fireplace where we made a fire and cooked in the evening. We picked the place at random after arriving at the Padiş Plateau, and our accommodation included breakfast at the neighboring guesthouse. The breakfasts weren’t great. The coffee was lousy, and the tea reminded me of the kettles in school canteens during the totalitarian era. It was edible, but nothing special.
