Looking at photos or Google Maps now brings back my childhood, when I had no worries and was surrounded by friends and family. I miss those days. I moved with my parents into the brand-new building across the street in 1978, on the third floor. My father had a garage there, and I spent time cleaning up and fixing the place. The house was abandoned and beyond repair, with a ruined roof that had collapsed. I remember Marius, who lived next door and was part of our circle of friends, though I haven’t kept in touch since I left. My parents worked at Astra. I don’t know much about the place as it is now, since it hadn’t been built yet when I left.

The bed is good and the prices are very low. But people smoke everywhere, and the toilets are only okay unless someone drunk has peed all over them. Out of six showers, just one had pleasantly warm water. People talked loudly late into the night.

For 29 ron a night, around 6 euros, I didn’t expect much, but I still wouldn’t stay here again. The price was the only good part. The place was filthy, smelled awful and had lots of broken things. The toilets were horrifying, all dirty, with no paper, and there were no doors on the bathrooms or showers. The rooms were tiny, and the hostel is in a very unpleasant part of town. The local gypsies who ran it were rude and impolite to us.

The whole place had a pretty strong smell of smoke, though the service was great. The guy at reception spoke English and was helpful.

Filthy place, with a dirty bathroom and a smelly, dirty toilet. There were even bugs in the room and toilet.
