Monti Chalet

The place was clean, close to the gondola, and the breakfast was really good. The staff were polite and helpful. But we booked two rooms for the weekend and ran into two major problems. There were sewage issues in the bathroom. With the door open, the room filled with a horrible smell, so we had to keep the door shut and the window open all the time. The magnetic room cards kept losing their charge. Reception is at another hotel, Artemis, so each time we returned, we had to walk upstairs to our room, then go over to that hotel’s reception to get the door opened and the cards changed because they wouldn’t work.

The rooms were great, and the free breakfast was a nice extra. But we were disappointed by the chalet’s services. It advertises a hot tub and sauna as amenities, then the fine print says they cost extra: 50 lei per person per hour. That was a letdown. When we asked to use the hot tub, we were told the water was dirty and it wasn’t recommended. I also don’t think charging for advertised amenities is in line with industry standards. And for health reasons, people aren’t recommended to stay in a hot tub or sauna for more than 10-15 mins at a time. Poiana Brasov has plenty of options, so I’d stay somewhere else and read the fine print. The area itself is lovely and has a lot to offer, especially in the busier seasons.

The location was handy, close to the resort center and bus station. The place was very clean, internet was great, staff were kind, and breakfast was very good. The room had some issues, though: the shower was broken, the pillows were too hard for me, and the bed was hard too, so I didn’t sleep well. It was 10 degrees Celsius at night, and the rooms felt quite cold without air conditioning.

We had a fabulous weekend in the mountains. The place was clean, the beds were comfortable, and there was the option of a delicious breakfast. I’d definitely recommend it for a nice weekend escape.
