Ramada Brasov

There's plenty of parking, and the hotel is near two service stations on the edge of town. The breakfast buffet was nice, while dinner was just okay, nothing memorable. It's an older hotel, and the rooms show their age. The beds were firm and comfortable, but the fabrics were stained. Bathroom drains and stoppers were slow or didn't work, and the in-room safe was very small.

The staff were friendly enough and the service was acceptable, but this really doesn't feel like a four-star hotel. Breakfast was adequate, though not what I'd expect at that rating. Our room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, the chemicals used to treat it, and perfume meant to cover that smell. The fumes made our throats scratch and left us coughing. The wardrobe door was crooked and hanging off, so we couldn't use it. The carpets were filthy, and the bed was hard, scratchy, and covered with a thin, worn sheet that kept rumpling. We barely slept and woke up coughing and feeling sick. We would have asked to move, but every room was booked, and staff were tied up handling other room complaints. We were traveling with a group, and others reported problems with water pressure, leaking fixtures, and more. Some rooms hadn't been cleaned before guests were assigned to them. There was also a serious mix-up with one family's room. They were settling in when another guest opened the door and walked in, frightening their young daughter. The room had been double booked, and that guest had been given a working key. This may once have been a very nice hotel, but it's now in serious disrepair and doesn't seem well managed. I'd stay somewhere else.

Our room on the seventh floor had a fantastic view, and I really enjoyed staying at Ramada Hotel. Breakfast was delicious, with a large buffet and lots of tasty food. We also had dinner at Ramada Grill, and it was excellent. The prices were steep, but the food was good enough to feel worth it. The stay was pleasant, though it didn't really amaze me.

The whole stay was a disaster. After our guide complained about the problems, the hotel kicked him out. We asked for a complaint form and they didn't have one, which we were told is illegal. We stayed three nights, but the room wasn't cleaned and the sheets and towels weren't changed. The staff weren't friendly either. Dinner didn't meet the quality we expected, and we were given only a limited amount of drinking water.
