Casa Frieda

We came for a late dinner and had a really tasty rocket salad with chicken and mushrooms, along with tagliatelle bolognese. The terrace was cozy even on a chilly autumn evening. I can't speak to the hotel, but the restaurant deserves five stars. It's a downtown spot I'd happily recommend.

We couldn't get warm inside, even though it was 0°C outside. We asked twice to have the heater beside our table switched on, but nobody did it. Service was slow and the staff were unpleasant. One person even walked off while I was still talking. The tagliatelle aglio olio was just as disappointing. It had no salt, spice or flavour, and there was so much oil it felt like soup. The noodles were mushy and overcooked, nowhere near al dente. Poor food, a cold dining room and bad service. I wouldn't recommend it.

The food and service were good, though the waiter did forget part of our order. What bothered me was having him stand beside us and point out how much tip he expected. It made the whole thing feel pushy. Next time, please let me decide how much I want to leave.

The hotel itself was fine, but the restaurant was a different story. We still had half our meal when the waitress told us to leave, an hour before closing, without explaining why. I still don't understand what happened. Stay at the hotel if you like, but I'd avoid eating there.
