Dumbrava Sibiului

We stayed five days and there were several parties nearby, but we didn't notice any of them. The staff are amazing, and it's a great place to stay. Recommend. Try Camara Boierului, amazing food. A few Asian clients were making a lot of noise and were extremely rude to the staff.

The hotel is a little dated, though still a very nice place to stay. They upgraded us from a standard room to a royal suite without any trouble. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and breakfast was fine. Happy hour in the executive lounge is as usual from 6 to 8 p.m., with a small but sufficient choice of food, snacks, and drinks.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It's old, the rooms feel dated, and it's outside the city center, so you'll always need a car or taxi/uber. The "balconies" are dirty, and rooms facing the street are noisy. The basement fitness room is extremely dark, with no daylight, and the equipment is 20 year +++ old and past its best. There are much better and newer hotel options in Sibiu. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.

I returned in August 2025 after 12 years, and there are more nearby restaurants and activities now, including tennis courts. The location is still great, near the Dumbravei forrest, Zoo and other. The elevators and interior hallways look very nice, and the rooms are very big and clean, as are the toilets. In the room there's a coffee machine, tea, water boiling machine, iron, and a balcony where you can smoke. The staff are helpful, very kind, and really sharp. Breakfast service is excellent, and while the variety might be four-star level, the food is delicious. Sibiu is famous for sheep cheese, branza telemea de oaie, and I would have expected it at breakfast. For a 5 star hotel, I'd expect better coffee than Kafune, perhaps a Julius Meinl. The air conditioning background noise is tolerable, but it's there even when switched off. In room 232, it sounds like a small engine running nonstop by the entrance. Maybe staff will check it, since a good night's sleep matters on holiday too. I didn't get to try the other services, including the English bar, SPA, thai massage, and room service. Romanian holders of "tchete vacanta" should book directly with the hotel to avoid possible payment issues. The staff helped me and advised me about this.
