The bathroom was dirty, the room was freezing with the heating off despite it being 6°C outside, and when I politely asked for help, I was insulted and humiliated. I’ve never had a more hostile hotel experience in Romania or anywhere else. It started with me asking for the price of a double room. They showed me one with a queen bed, just what I needed. I asked if they’d match the lower price online. They said no, which was fine, so I booked online instead. A few minutes later, the manager came over aggressively and said I’d be moved to a completely different, tiny room with a miserable-looking single bed. She said outright that since I’d booked online at the lower rate, she’d punish me with a bad room, even though proper double rooms were still available. That was hostile, unprofessional and deliberately disrespectful. No business calling itself a hotel should treat guests this way. I strongly advise people to avoid this place. It wasn’t just bad service, it felt openly malicious.

The staff were good, and breakfast was excellent. Romania is beautiful too, with wonderful food. We had a great experience at the hotel.

Ijon, who rides a motorcycle too, gave us the kind of local advice you hope for, and even joined us for a day. That was really special. Vanessa and Ijon made the stay feel like home. We arrived as strangers and left as friends. For riders looking for a warm place with kind people, this is the place to go.

The location worked really well for exploring Transalpina and Transfagarasan. We lost count of the bears we saw there at 10! They’re planning to rent out their new CFmoto450, and I’m very tempted to fly back soon and use it. Vanessa welcomed us with beers as soon as we parked our motorbikes in the secure courtyard, and Johnny sat with us chatting about bikes. Such a friendly, family-run place, and very reasonably priced. Vanessa’s mum, the big boss, is a delight and runs a lovely little hotel. Five stars from Tim & John.
