Pension Casa Sibianului

There’s a little garden behind the house where you can unwind, and the bathroom was clean and pleasant, with steady hot water and good pressure. The rooms were clean and the host friendly. It’s close to the old city centre, and I’ll come back when I visit Sibiu again.

We’d only stopped briefly to get out of the car, while the driver kept going. The lady started shouting and swearing, took photos of the car, and wouldn’t even let us say goodbye. After being treated that way out on the street, I can’t imagine staying here. It was awful, and I wonder how guests are treated.

I stayed here for about three nights in summer 2016 with my son and a friend. We were polite throughout, but felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. The owners, especially the wife, came across as cold, surly, and unsmiling. Whenever we came in, one of them would glare at us without saying anything. I believe it had a lot to do with my son being black, though I can think of no other reason. The young woman who spoke English was pleasant, unlike the owners. There were other things that added to the feeling. After we left, the room was searched straight away. Refuse I’d put in an outside bin was quickly taken out with a mutter and bad grace. I paid the full amount in cash at the start but wasn’t given a receipt then. The only explanation was that the owner wasn’t there. Other reviews suggest they’re pleasant with most people. I’d urge them to rethink attitudes that belong to another era.

I stayed one night. The room was plain but good, and everything was tidy. The only issue for me was the Wi-Fi, which didn’t work.
