Floare de Maramures

The photos on the website are impressive, but we felt misled by them after doing lots of research before our trip. The place itself is okay, though it’s quite far from the main road, something we overlooked because of the presentation. When we arrived, we were shown to our rooms and that was pretty much the extent of the welcome. We asked about breakfast and got a decent one the first morning. The next day, though, we were told we wouldn’t get breakfast because we hadn’t ordered it the night before. We hadn’t expected to request it every day after asking the first time. There’s also a sauna/jacuzzi type room, but when we asked to use it, she said that since covid started it wasn’t worth heating the water for one family, so she no longer offered it. When we checked out, we said she hadn’t been very welcoming and that we’d expected a bit more. We mentioned that other places in the area had welcomed us with "tuica". She seemed offended and said there was "tuica" in the eating area for everyone. Nobody had offered us any, and the printed room rules said not to enter the eating area unless invited. It’s not a bad place, but the service could be more welcoming. It wasn’t exceptional for us.

A family run place with a really nice lady looking after it. The room felt traditional, like my grandma's house, and was very comfortable, with a shower, TV and heating for winter. There was just one 220v socket beside the bed, a small drawback. It’s a good fit for a 2-3-4 day stay, with some tourist attractions nearby.

We felt right at home here. The service was wonderful, and the place was lovely and clean. We’ll definitely return.
