La Casa

The rooms are basic, though comfortable, and there’s some traffic noise from the busy road beside the side street. It wasn’t too bad. Breakfast is served in the downstairs dining room, and there’s also a terrace where you can sit and get drinks from reception. Someone was always on hand at reception and helped us arrange taxis. Although it’s outside Bucharest’s main centre, it worked well as a base for visiting the city’s sights and other parts of Romania.

There was no Wi-Fi or TV, despite both being advertised, and our room was freezing. The hosts insisted the temperature was fine and wouldn’t give us the climate control remote. They were also extremely grumpy and kept giving us strange looks. The room and bed were tiny, and the bed was so uncomfortable I didn’t sleep at all during our three-night stay. I could barely stand in the shower because it was so small. A terrible experience. There are much nicer places around town for the same price. Avoid it.

The beds were far too small, with half of me hanging off, and the room was incredibly hot while we were there. I had to leave the window open just to breathe. Still, for such a low price, the place was very clean and attentive to detail, and it’s in a decent area. We had breakfast, and the host was very nice. Definitely a good option.

The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water. We also enjoyed spending time on the outdoor patio chatting with Mihaela and Alex over the coffee and other drinks they had available. They were welcoming and polite, dealt with our requests quickly, and always checked that we were happy. Check-in was quick and easy. The hotel was handy for Old Town, Baneasa Shopping City, and the offices we needed to visit. There were two convenience stores close by and a great Shawarma place next door. My partner and I had a wonderful week in Bucharest, and our hosts were a big part of it. We’ll stay here again on our next visit. Thank you, Mihaela and Alex!
