Hotel Casa Iurca

The papanasi were very good, though deep-fried dough with sugar and fat is hard to mess up. The rest of the food was greasy, some of it cold, and I wasn't sure all the ingredients were fresh. Service varied too: most of the waitresses seemed tired and annoyed, but one young waitress was friendly and eager. Just an average meal for me.

We asked whether they had a table for three and got yelled at. The staff seemed more interested in gossiping with the other servers than doing their jobs. They treated us horribly. We're never going back.

We had some fantastic, delicious meals here, with tasty local, traditional food. It's definitely worth a visit. The little garden inside is lovely, and the staff are kind. The younger staff speak English well, so it was easy to communicate, though the menu itself is only in Romanian and you'll need a translation app.

The food was a highlight at Restaurant Iurca. I especially recommend the mămăligă with sour cream and the grilled meats, both cooked just right. The traditional Romanian dishes were full of flavor and beautifully presented, and the local wines went really well with the meal. The warm, inviting atmosphere made it a cozy place to eat, and the friendly, attentive staff made us feel at home. Restaurant Iurca is a real gem in Sighetu Marmației, and I often recommend it to my Airbnb guests. I can't wait to go back.
