Hotel Gradina Morii

We got to try the wine tasting, which was a fantastic extra, and there was accessible parking available. It’s a convenient spot, about a 20-minute walk from the city center. Our two-night stay was really nice, with clean rooms, great staff, and good food at the hotel. Definitely worth it.

From this historic building, you get a lovely view over the river. It’s also easy to visit the Merry Cemetery and the Communism Memorial from here. A lovely place to stay.

The meals were generous, more than we could finish, and everything was top quality. Our activities were arranged for each day and all went smoothly and on time. The hotel was extremely clean, with spacious rooms, and the polite, friendly staff made us feel comfortable and took our needs into account. We’ve been to Maramures before, but this booking was far better than our past experiences. We’re leaving grateful, with our hearts full of memories. We’ll definitely return and recommend this place.

We had a family meal in the outdoor dining area. My Romanian wife told the manager, Anca, that I have coeliac disease and cannot eat gluten or food that has touched it. Anca said the meat and vegetables should be safe, but that I couldn’t have the potatoes because they use the same fryer for gluten-containing foods. I ordered chicken and pork skewers with vegetables. It was getting dark by the time the food arrived, and after eating some, I found a gluten-containing bread wrap underneath everything on my plate. We showed it to the chef, who said it was fine and that I could just eat the rest. We explained that I couldn’t because it had touched the bread, then called Anca over. When my wife told her what had happened, Anca said, “he's awkward, where did you find him?” A replacement meal came only after the rest of the family had finished, and I could only hope it had no wheat or gluten in it. Then the bill charged me for two servings of potatoes, even though none came to our table. With that attitude and the staff’s incompetence, we won’t eat here again.
