Be very careful when booking. We arranged a weekend with friends and family to celebrate our son’s 10th birthday. Two weeks beforehand, I called the owner and agreed with her on the place, the number of rooms and guests, and even the meals. Then, just one day before we were due to leave, I called to confirm everything was still set. She said she’d rented the house to somebody else and tried to blame me for not calling her. After two or three different lies, I had to accept that our weekend, and worse, my son’s birthday, was ruined. I’d never trust them again.

A terrible experience in an otherwise beautiful place. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with kids. The lady has a poorly trained dog that bit my daughter, and we found out it hadn’t been vaccinated for years. My daughter is now getting the shots. We received no apology. Instead, the lady lied about the vaccination, seemed offended, and even tried to charge us too much for the accommodation. What a shame.

We spent unforgettable days at the Balázs guesthouse, and Matild made them even better with the delicious meals and lovely conversations. The guesthouses sit beside the Ivó stream in a beautiful, quiet setting, away from traffic, and the family-run hospitality is warm and thoughtful. Breakfast and dinner were so varied and tasty that we never considered going to a restaurant. We also enjoyed the chimney cake baking, hot tub and sauna. If you’re after tidy accommodation and plenty of local cuisine in the heart of Székelyföld, this is a great choice. Thank you, Matild. Zoli, Mariann, Réka, Ádám, Laura

The food was excellent, varied and plentiful, and the homemade desserts were always delicious. The setting is beautiful, right by the stream, and the accommodation has all the equipment you need. The homemade cranberry brandy with the salt bath was phenomenal, and the sauna was in perfect condition. The many improvements have made for excellent hospitality. The Wi-Fi is a little slow, but it works. Very good overall, and I recommend it to everyone.
