A lovely spot to switch off and get your energy back. 10/10.

The loud toilet exhaust was a real issue at night. If you get up to use the bathroom, there’s a big chance you’ll wake your roommate. I asked for an extra duvet, but the host said there wasn’t one and suggested using a blanket from the closet. When I asked for a sheet to cover it, she seemed annoyed and said, “I don’t want to mess up the linens.” The guesthouse smelled quite strong. They had a DoTerra diffuser running, but it didn’t make the smell pleasant. In the morning, light came in very early because there were no curtains on the windows. The rooms are small, with a mix of rustic and kitschy decor, like hand-sewn towels and plastic curtains. The living room had the same jarring mix of objects that didn’t seem to go together. I also felt the host was unkind. She mentioned making blueberry jam, and there was a plate of blueberries on the living room table, but she didn’t offer us any, even though there were only two guests in the whole place. And then there were the two large dogs. One was chained up, the other kept in a very small pen. The host said the second one didn’t really want to leave it, but after spending its whole life in such a small space, it’s natural that it wouldn’t. I found it upsetting to see them kept that way, and hard to call a place with that going on “fairytale.” With all these problems, I can’t recommend the guesthouse for a relaxing break. There’s a lot that could be improved for guests.

The hosts are so welcoming, and the location feels like something out of a story. A superb place, everything is top-notch.

The cottage is tastefully decorated and the rooms are warm. The owners are kind and welcoming, and the setting is gorgeous. It’s just right for a few days away to relax. We’d happily return and recommend it.
