Hotel Gorj

The rooms are pretty average. Some have issues with the doors or air conditioners, and the TVs in a few rooms are quite old. Still, the service, location, and food are all 10/10, so it's a pretty good hotel.

It's right by the park where The Gate of The Kiss and The Table of Silence are, and the staff were nice and willing to help. I stayed one night in August with my family in a room for three, with three separate beds. The room was fairly clean, but the bathroom was really dirty. There was no mesh on the windows, so we had to put up with mosquitoes all night. I'd only recommend it for a one-night stop to see the city.

Some floors seem renovated, but the others were a complete mess, like a horror movie: deep holes in the walls with spider webs, wooden halls, yellow bulbs, and glass doors with broken windows. Everything was dirty, the doors were broken, and the elevator only worked with three people inside. The layout was confusing, and we couldn't find the stairs back down, so we had to use the service stairs. At night, people were screaming gibberish in the parking lot. There was no air conditioning. Honestly, avoid this place at all costs. There are better places at better prices.

We slept okay, though it was difficult because of the smell of cigarette smoke. We had planned to stay for three nights. No one at reception could speak English, which made communication difficult. The food wasn't very good either.
