Hotel Apollo

The hotel is old, though it seems to be trying to do well. The location is peaceful and the staff are friendly. Breakfast was average.

On our last day, after paying 2100 RON for three nights, my wife and I asked if we could use the pool area for 2-3 hours after checkout. The staff turned us down very coldly and wanted an extra charge, even though the place was empty. That felt really unpleasant for the amount we had paid. Someone on staff also shouted at us while talking on his phone. Very unprofessional.

The pools are nicely maintained, with plenty of loungers in both sun and shade. During the week it wasn’t crowded, and there were enough seats that we didn’t need to book early. The outdoor restaurant was the weak point: only fast food, and the very young staff seemed inexperienced and poorly coordinated. They tried hard to help, but it felt like no one was organizing or training them. Still, it’s a very nice place. We’re going again tomorrow.

The massage was amazing, and I loved the spa facilities, from the jacuzzi and salt water to the outdoor pool and sauna area. The food was okay, and for a four-star hotel the facilities could be better. We had a good stay, though, and will definitely come back.
